So I have a crush on my best friend... new advice on an old story?

I have this friend that is such a sweetheart and ever since I first met him, I've had a huge crush on him. We've almost gone out so many times but for some reason, it's never happened. Everyone says that it looks like we're either going out or that we have gone out at sometime. Also, he's always saying things like (after i said i'm a klutz) "does that mean that your hand might just accidentally fall into mine?" and he always tells me that he loves me and that I'm beautiful. I don't want to act on it incase that's just the kind of person he is, but I don't want to miss out on something special. What should I do??
