Ex bf still wants to b friends. he's goin thru a lot. how to just b a friend without bringin up old feelings?

he says he doesnt really have anyone else to talk to bc i know the whole story about whats goin on with him. i have a new bf, and i dont want the old relationship to interfere with the new... new bf doesnt care that i have guy friends, but he doesnt know i dated the guy b4. i feel like im being dishonest bc i havent told the new bf the whole story. but i'm afraid to talk to the old bf too much, bc i dont want him to keep feelin like there's a chance for us to get back together. i want to b there for him, i told him ill always b a friend, but i've also told him, i cant break someone elses heart to fix his... he says he wants me back and that theres nothing he wouldnt do for me, but he's willing to wait and see if maybe someday ill give him another chance. i know he cares about me, but i wonder if he's just tryin to get me to feel sorry for him so i wont push him completely out of my life? he says he thinks about me and what went wrong every day, and im the reason he keeps goin, etc....
