Confused about Benefits available to working Mum on maternity leave?

I'm due to go on maternity leave. I realise that I will get 90% of my pay for the first 6 weeks then smp for the remaining 33. (�123.06). I will be a lone parent. I got told yesterday that I may qualify for Income support whilst on maternity leave due to being on a low income. Does anyone know if this is true. I have tried to use the benefits calculator but it doesnt seem to account for new mums who are lone parents and on maternity pay. I do intend to return to work after my maternity leave ends but only for 16 hours. Can anyone help???? Thanks in advance.
